A fidget ring, also known as a spinner ring, is a band made up of two freely spinning rings. To make such a ring, a person must feel comfortable using tools to solder and construct a piece of jewelry. Soldering involves using flux and heat to join two pieces of metal in an invisible bond; shaping and flaring the edges of the band requires the use of additional tools.

Instructions

    1

Cut a sterling silver sheet with a jewelry saw; cut the sheet to a size of 3/8-inch wide and 3 inches long.

    2

Bend the piece of sterling silver with your hands around a ring mandrel. Shape the ring with a plastic mallet.

    3

Remove the fidget ring from the ring mandrel and place it in a clamp with the open edges facing upward. Paint a small amount of flux -- to facilitate a solder -- onto the open edges of the ring. Push the edges of the ring together.

    4

Apply a torch to the solder until the ring is soldered shut, and then remove the flame and turn off the torch. Allow the ring to cool.

    5

Cut a piece of 12-gauge wire, approximately 4 inches in length, with wire cutters. Wrap the piece of wire around the ring mandrel to create a second ring, which will spin, or fidget, around the sterling silver ring.

    6

Place the wire ring in a clamp with the open edges facing upward. Paint a small amount of flux onto the open edges of the wire ring; push the edges of the ring together and then apply heat from a torch until the ring is soldered shut. Turn off the torch and allow the ring to cool.

    7

Slip the wire ring over the sterling silver ring, and then flare the edges of the sterling silver ring. Flaring involves placing the ring on a steel block and hammering its edges with a bordering hammer. Flaring ensures the wire ring will not slip off the sterling silver ring.

    8

Sand the flared edges of the fidget ring with 220-grit sandpaper until the edges are smooth.
