How to Make a Disciple's Cross Necklace

Making a disciple's cross necklace can be as simple or as detailed as you like. A disciple is one who follows Christ, or who lives his life as a Christian. The cross has been a symbol of Christianity throughout the ages. It represents the suffering of Jesus Christ as he died on the cross, and many people wear it in some jewelry form to remind them of what Jesus did for them. There are a few steps to making a cross necklace worthy of any disciple.

Instructions

    1

Choose a color of simulated leather cord. Use black or brown for a basic natural look. Measure it and cut it to your preferred length. Make a choker necklace from a shorter length. Leave an extra 2 inches to allow for tying the ends together.

    2

Choose a jumpring and cross pendant that will match each other. Slide the jumpring onto the cord.

    3

Use a pair of needle-nose pliers. Grip the jumpring with the pliers. Spread it open just enough to hook it onto the cross pendant. Squeeze the jumpring back together tightly to ensure the cross will not fall through the seem of it. Apply a small dot of super glue to seam in the jumpring for reinforcement.

    4

Allow cross pendant to hang from middle of cord. Tie both ends to the cord together into a secure knot. Cut excess tips of the cord off. Add a few dots of super glue to the knot to reinforce it. Allow to dry completely before touching.
