If you want to make jewelry out of art that you've altered by adding color or collage to the art, try making a necklace or charm-style bracelet featuring epoxy-filled pendants that display the altered art. These pieces can be as simple or complex as you choose, and are suitable for people with a range of crafting ability. Funky, but with a smooth, professional finish, these pieces will showcase your creativity and style. They turn art into something you can display anywhere you go instead of just on your walls at home.

Instructions

    1

Lay the newspaper over your work surface to prevent damage to your table or desk.

    2

Place the artwork face up on the newspaper.

    3

Place an empty metal pendant face up over the part of the artwork that you'd like to capture.

    4

Trace around the pendant with pencil onto the artwork. Lift the pendant.

    5

Add any alterations to the artwork now. Any color or collage added within the bounds of the pencil marking will become part of your jewelry.

    6

Cut out the newly altered art with the scissors. Cut just inside the pencil mark.

    7

Repeat from step 2 using different pendants for sizing until you have artwork cut out for each pendant.

    8

Place drops of glue into the bottom of the pendant and press the art carefully into the glue so it is flush against the bottom of the pendant.

    9

Mix a batch of the epoxy resin. This means mixing the resin liquid with the hardener liquid in a separate, disposable container according the instructions on the package. Mix slowly to avoid creating bubbles in the epoxy resin.

    10

Pour epoxy into each pendant to fill it up to the top of it's metal ridge, wipe off any excess with the wet cloth and allow the epoxy to dry.

    11

Attach the pendant or pendants to the necklace or bracelet chain using the small jewelry loops and pliers.
