How to Wear a Horseshoe Ring

When someone mentions a horseshoe ring, they can be talking about one of two things. A horseshoe ring refers to a ring you wear on your finger that features a horseshoe. The only thing you need to know about wearing this ring is to keep the horseshoe pointing upwards toward your knuckles for good luck; the other way will bring bad luck. The other type of horseshoe ring is a curved bar with two screw-on knobs on the end that is worn as body jewelry. The latter may look complicated, but it's really fairly simple to wear.

Instructions

    1

Select the ring and decide where you want to wear it. Body piercing range from earlobes to belly buttons, with myriad other parts in between. Horseshoe rings can be worn nearly anywhere on the body. Pay attention to the thickness of the metal bar, or the gauge, to make sure it will fit through the piercing.

    2

Clean the ring. Unscrew both ends of the ring. Place the ring and the two end pieces in a shallow dish of hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol. Let it sit for several minutes while you wash your hands.

    3

Screw one end of the ring back on. Carefully remove the ring and one end from the dish and dry with a soft, clean cloth. Attach one end back on the ring by screwing it on the post.

    4

Insert the ring in desired location. Grasp the side of the ring where the ball is secured. Take the open end of the ring and insert it gently through the desired piercing.

    5

Screw on the other end of the ring.
