How to Make a Hand Knotted Pearl Necklace With a Pendant

Pearls are considered to be elegant and complement any outfit without overshadowing it. Freshwater pearls are the most expensive and beautiful among their counterparts. However, you can easily buy dyed or cultured pearls at a much cheaper rate and, with the right technique, string your own statement necklace.

Instructions

    1

Measure the desired length you want for your necklace. Cut out three times the length of your beading string. Knotting uses up some length of the thread so it is better to start with a long length.

    2

Attach the clasp on one end of your string securely. Thread the other end of the string through your beading needle. Divide your pearls in two sets so you can loop the pendant when you are halfway through.

    3

String the first pearl through the threaded needle and make an overhand knot. Use the tweezers to push the knot as close to the pearl as possible and pull the thread firmly to tighten the knot. Repeat with the remaining set of pearls, securing a knot after threading each one.

    4

Insert the pendant when you have finishing knotting one set of pearls. There is no need to tie a knot after looping the pendant as it will fit snugly between two knotted pearls.

    5

String the first pearl from the second set and knot it carefully so that it rests right next to the strung pendant. Repeat with the remaining pearls until you reach your desired length.

    6

Tie the loose string end to the clasp making a firm knot. Use the tweezers to guide the knot close to the clasp. Trim off extra thread.
