How to Size a Watchband With Double Screws

Sizing a watchband can be frustrating. There are several different methods, depending on the way the links in the band are held together. If your watchband has a small screw head on each side of the links, your watch uses double-ended screws. Resizing these types of bands is relatively easy. You will need to remove links if you are making the band smaller, and add links if you are making the band larger.

Instructions

    1

Pick a location on the band where you will add or remove links. The location should be on the part of the watchband where all of the links are the same size.

    2

Insert a screwdriver into one of the screw heads on the end of the link. While holding the first screwdriver in, insert a second screwdriver into the opposite screw head.

    3

Hold the first screwdriver steady, and unscrew the second screw with the second screwdriver. The screw should come out in two parts. The two links that the screws were holding together should come apart from each other, creating a gap in the band.

    4

Add links to the gap if you are making the band larger. Screw the new links, using their own screws, into one end of the gap. Use the screws that you took out of the band to close the gap.

    5

Remove links if you are making the band smaller. Push the remaining links together to close the gap and reattach the ends of the band with the screws you took out earlier.
