CBR stands for captive bead ring, although it might also be rendered CBR ring. This is a type of body jewelry where a broken ring is joined by a bead, which is held in place by pressure from the two ends of the ring. This jewelry is used in ear piercings, nipple piercings and genital piercings. The pressure that holds the bead in the ring is fairly high, and it take some practice to easily remove and insert the ring.
Instructions
- 1
Wash your hands thoroughly with soap. This helps avoid infection in the piercing.
2Open the CBR by inserting the two points from a pair of round nose pliers into the center of the ring and gently forcing the ring wider. This causes the bead to pop out.
3Slide the ring portion of the CBR into your piercing, with the gap between the ends of the ring farthest away from your flesh.
4Slide the points of the round nose pliers into the rings again, forcing them open slightly. You want the opening between the two ends to be be just large enough to admit the bead.
5Locate the dent in the bead where one end of the ring is supposed to sit. There are two such dents.
6Line up the dents in the bead with one of the ends of the ring.
7Snap the bead into place by pushing the bead so that both dents line up with both ends of the ring.
8Remove the pliers, allowing the ring ends to grip the bead more securely.
