Building your own fashion ring featuring a cameo, flowers or any other design can be simple and fun. Once you have mastered the basic steps of ring making, you can save money on jewelry and even sell your rings for profit.
Instructions
- 1
Purchase ring blanks. Ring blanks are ring bases with a pad on which you can glue objects. Online jewelry supply sellers generally have better choices and cheaper prices. Visit the websites etsy.com or artfire.com.
2Purchase cabochons. Cabochons are flat-backed beads that can easily be glued onto ring blanks. These come in every conceivable design, including flowers and cameos. Suppliers include etsy.com and artfire.com.
If you don't want to wait for cabochons to arrive in the mail, consider using buttons. Because of their flat backs, you can glue a button onto your ring and then affix virtually any three dimensional object to the button for a unique and creative ring.
3Plug in your glue gun and allow it to heat up. This usually takes about 10 minutes.
4Squeeze the trigger on the glue gun to place a small circle of glue onto the back of the cabochon. Then place the cabochon onto the ring's pad. Squeeze the two parts together until dry.
