Bracelet Link Pin Removal

Bracelet-style watch bands are composed of individual links that can be added or removed to change the size of the bracelet. These links can be held in place in a number of ways, but in many cases they are held together with either a split pin or a straight pin. Bracelet link pins are designed to stay in place, but can be removed by using inexpensive jeweler's or watchmaker's tools.

Instructions

Removing a Bracelet Link Pin Using a Pin Pusher

    1

Look on the underside of your watch bracelet for directional arrows. These will let you know in which direction you should push the pin.

    2

Place the watch bracelet into a bracelet sizing block with the arrows pointing down.

    3

Locate the pin you wish to remove on the side of the watch bracelet. Align the pin pusher with the link pin and push firmly. If the pin does not come out, use a small hammer to carefully hammer the end of the pin pusher until the pin begins to come out.

    4

Use tweezers to pull the link pin the rest of the way out of the bracelet. Set the pin aside in a place where it can be easily found.

Removing a Bracelet Link Pin Using a Bracelet Sizing Tool

    5

Place the watch bracelet in the bracelet sizing tool, with the arrows facing away from the sizing pin.

    6

Align the sizing pin with the link pin you want to remove.

    7

Turn the sizing tool's wheel clockwise until the sizing pin pushes the link pin out of the watch bracelet. You may need to slightly adjust the position of the watch to keep the sizing pin aligned with the link pin hole.

    8

Remove the link pin with a pair of tweezers and set it aside.
