How to Clean White Gold & Diamond Jewelry

No matter how careful you are with your diamond ring, from time to time it will require cleaning. Whether it is made of silver, gold, white gold or another metal, tarnish is bound to appear. Your gem and band will loose their luster, and a good cleaning is the only way to make them sparkle again. Fortunately, cleaning white gold and diamond jewelry is not difficult.

Instructions

    1

Soak your diamond ring in hot water for about five minutes. Do not use boiling hot water, because you could damage your diamond.

    2

Empty the water from the bowl. Pour either glass cleaner or isopropyl alcohol (70 percent alcohol), in the bowl. Submerge the ring, but use just enough liquid to cover it.

    3

Soak the ring for 10 seconds.

    4

Remove the ring from the bowl. Scrub it clean with the toothbrush or paint brush. This will loosen any debris, and scrub away any tarnish.

    5

Soak your ring in a bowl of hot water, with a drop of dish soap. Leave it soak for five minutes Remove it from the bowl.

    6

Spray the pronged area of the ring with the water pick. This will get any dust, dirt and debris out from under the prongs. A water pick used for oral hygiene works.

    7

Dry your ring completely with a soft cloth.
