How to Take Off Belly Bars

A belly button ring, or bar, can be taken out easily at home, whether you are switching to a different belly bar or taking it out completely. You only need a few materials, and it can be taken out in under a minute once you get the hang of it.

Instructions

    1

Put on the surgical gloves if you are removing another person's belly bar. If it is yours, they are not necessary, but wash your hands with antibacterial soap thoroughly before touching the belly bar.

    2

Dip the Q-tip into a paper cup filled with hydrogen peroxide. Swab the area around the belly bar, around the hole and inside your bellybutton.

    3

Hold the bottom part of the belly bar between your thumb and index finger to keep it steady. With the other hand, unscrew the ball from the top of the belly bar carefully.

    4

Place the ball into the cup of hydrogen peroxide. Slowly pull out the belly bar with the other hand that is holding the bottom of it. Place the belly bar into the cup of hydrogen peroxide.

    5

Dip the other side of the Q-tip into the cup of hydrogen peroxide. Swab the area around the piercing hole, inside your belly button and around the area to sanitize.

    6

Let the belly bar soak in the cup for a minute; then remove it, and dry it off. Place it in the plastic baggie and store until you use it again.
