A blinking tongue ring makes a statement when you wear it at raves or other parties, but it's not practical for everyday wear. It consists of a straight stud with a small ball on the bottom, a large, flashing ball on the top, and two watch batteries to power it. If you regularly change your tongue ring, you shouldn't have a hard time making the switch to a blinking one.

Instructions

    1

Remove the small piece of paper that comes with your new blinking tongue ring, which acts as a border between the ring's batteries to keep the ring in an "off" position. You can do this with your fingers. Removing this piece of paper will cause the tongue ring to start blinking. Save the piece of paper to turn the ring off later.

    2

Unscrew the top ball of the ring. Hold the full ball and twist the ball counterclockwise to get it off. If you are only holding the top of the ball, you may simply open the container for the batteries.

    3

Put the blinking tongue ring in your tongue. Screw the ball back on the top by twisting clockwise.

    4

Drink through a straw when you are wearing the blinking tongue ring. You don't want to soak the ball because it has a battery.

    5

Place the piece of paper back in between the ring's batteries if you want to turn it off. There's a small hole to do this. If you've lost the paper, you can turn it off by removing the batteries.

    6

Replace the ring's batteries as needed. The batteries should last about 12 hours. When you need to replace them, open the ball by holding and twisting the top part of the ball only counterclockwise. Follow the diagram inside to replace batteries correctly, then screw the top back on.
