How to Put a Diamond Back in a Ring

The moment a diamond ring is presented can be the happiest moment of a girls life and it can be extremely frustrating and disappointing if the stone falls out. Many factors contribute to the stone falling out of a ring, including faulty workmanship or rough handling or crushing. In order to put the stone back in a ring, high-level training and professional tools are necessary to fuse the metal and keep the stone in place. A reputable jeweler should have the expertise and tools necessary. It is not recommended to attempt to replace it yourself, as the stone will not be secure.

Instructions

    1

Collect all parts of the ring. Even if the ring and diamonds have come apart, gather everything together in a secure bag and seal it to ensure nothing falls out.

    2

Locate the original receipt or credit card statement if possible. It is best to have documentation of your purchase before taking it in anywhere to be fixed.

    3

If possible, take the setting and diamond back to the jeweler where it was originally purchased. If it is still under warranty, the jeweler should replace the stone if it has been lost and give you a new ring or fix the old one free of charge.

    4

Take the ring to a reputable jeweler if you did not purchase the ring locally or inherited it from a relative. Ask trusted friends and family for a recommended jeweler and look at the better business bureau for any complaints about jewelers in your area. You want someone honest who will give you a fair price and do professional-quality work.

    5

Agree on the time and cost of placing the stone back in the ring before handing over the ring and stone to be repaired.
