How to Minimize Photos for a Locket

A locket is a small pendant often decoratively engraved and which opens up to reveal a memorable item, such as a small lock or hair, or more often, a small photo of a loved one. A locket is usually worn as a necklace but sometimes as a bracelet. Because a locket is quite small, a photograph must be shrunk to fit inside the locket. With some quick measurements and basic computer skills, you can shrink a photo to fit inside your locket.

Instructions

    1

Determine the size you need your photograph to be. Often, a locket will come with printed dimensions. If it does not, trace the locket onto a sheet of paper and measure the height and width. Using a sheet of paper, cut out the sample size and make sure that it fits in the locket.

    2

Choose your photo. If your photo is not already a digital image, use a scanner to save the photo to your computer.

    3

Open up your editing software and create a new document. Locate the dimensions section of the software, and type in the correct measurements. Once you have the proper size available on your document, copy and paste your photograph into this section.

    4

Save the photo, and print. You can use a piece of photo paper and print the photo from home, or print the image at a photo lab by saving the image to a flash drive and bringing it to the lab.

    5

Insert the photograph into the locket.
