How to Secure a Charm Bracelet

A charm bracelet can be a gorgeous fashion accessory and a beautiful gift. Charms can also have a significance that is important to the wearer. Once you find the perfect charms for your bracelet, you'll need to figure out how you want to keep them attached. Would you like the charms to be attached permanently or would you want to interchange the charms occasionally?

Instructions

    1

To keep the charms attached permanently, visit a jeweler and have the charms soldered to the bracelet. Because this is a permanent option, you will not be able to switch the charms later. This can cost approximately $5 per charm.

    2

To have the option of interchanging charms occasionally, use a split ring attachment. It works like a key-chain ring: You slide the bracelet and the charm onto the ring. This is a good option if you have lightweight charms.

    3

Use a spring ring if you plan to change charms often. A spring ring is similar to the ring closures on many necklaces and bracelets. When you push down on the lever of a spring ring, the opposite side opens. Slide the charm and bracelet into the opening and release the lever. This option is also great for lighter charms. If you have a heavier charm, consider a lobster clasp, which works like a spring ring but is better for heavier charms.
