Ring Stretcher Tools

The history of making rings is a long one. The tradition of wearing rings dates back to the Egyptian era if not before. Rings can be made with gold and other precious metals. From the earliest era of making jewelry, precious jewels and gemstones were also added to rings, or beads shaped like objects such as flower, beetles or shells. After making a ring, it is possible that it no longer fits the wearer and needs to be resized. Something similar may happen if you buy a vintage ring at a jewelry store or a ring you inherit from a relative. Fortunately, there are ring stretcher tools that can help you make the ring larger.

Rathburn Ring Stretcher

The Rathburn ring stretcher consists of a long cone with graduated ring grooves and a base at the bottom upon which the stretcher stands, point of the cone facing up. Slip the ring over the point of the stretcher and slip the mandrel over the point, and hammer gently on the mandrel, driving the ring down until it stretches it to the size you need.

Upright Ring Stretcher

An upright ring stretcher is similar to a manual stretcher except that it is affixed to a stand. The stretcher consists of six splines that expand in order to stretch the ring. By pulling down the handle, this enables you to make the splines expand.

Ring Enlarger

The ring enlarger has the stretcher mounted at a 90-degree angle to the base. The ring enlarger consists of a set of graduated sized bands that allow you to stretch the ring.
