A tear-shaped bead with a hole drilled into the top is referred to as a briolette. Briolette lops look intricate and complicated, but creating one isn't as difficult as you may think. It may take practice and precision, but it's not hard to master as long as you use the right tools. Most of these tools can be found in your home or in a basic toolbox.

Instructions

    1

Cut five inches of wire. Thread the wire through the hole in the briolette bead.

    2

Slide the briolette bead to the middle of the wire. Bend the wire so that it forms a criss-crossed X shape above the bead.

    3

Use your fingers to open the X shape where the wires cross. Bend the X shaped wire so that the intersection of the wires are right above the top of the bead. Leave just enough room for the bead to swing a little.

    4

Bend one of the wires straight up vertically with the pliers. Bend the other side that insects it so that it wraps around the base of the vertical wire.

    5

Wrap it around the base of the vertical wire so that it makes at least three coils. Keep the wire flat so that the coils are tight and close together.

    6

Cut off the wire that's left as close to the coil as you can with your wire cutters.

    7

Sand down the sharp end of this wire with the fine sandpaper.

    8

Cut down the vertical wire to about 5/8 inch.

    9

Grasp the now-shortened vertical wire right above the coils. Bend it at a 90 degree angle.

    10

Use the pliers to bend it into a round loop, pushing the end of the wire down close to the coils.
