Packing jewelry is about as easy a task as there is when getting ready for a trip. So, if you are tired of arriving at your location and opening your luggage only to find it crushed, displaced or strewn about, you need to brush up on your packing skills.

Instructions

    1

Use tissue paper. Create a two-ply blend of tissue paper by combining two single sheets. Place a single item of jewelry onto the tissue paper and then fold over the top flap. Next, turn the piece of tissue paper to the back side, holding the jewelry against the inside of the fold. Turn another flap to trap the jewelry and cushion it within a holding cell. Continue to turn over each flap and then flip to turn over the adjacent flap on the opposite end of the tissue paper.

    2

Use bubble wrap. Lay a sheet of bubble wrap on a table. Start at the end of the sheet and hold one item to the border of the bubble wrap. Using your index finger and thumb, roll the jewelry inside the bubble wrap, turning and turning until you wind the bubble wrap into a complete roll. Use a piece of tape to prevent the roll from unraveling.

    3

Use cotton strips. Avoid cotton balls unless using to pad a small jewelry box or container holding pieces of jewelry. Use strips of cotton to create soft insulation for small to medium-size jewelry boxes. Wrap individual items in the cotton and store inside a large case or box. Wrap snugly and secure with a string.

    4

Use newspaper. When packing large wooden or plastic items use newspaper for a strong and cheap alternative to expensive jewelry boxes. Use the sturdy material to wrap the jewelry into a rectangular shape or create an envelope to store earrings. Triple the newspaper for added strength and staple at the ends to secure.
