Ideas to Reset Diamonds

There are many reasons for resetting a diamond stone. For example, some people want to upgrade their engagement ring while preserving the original stone, others choose to have an heirloom diamond placed into a modern setting, some people choose to make a new accessory by resetting a diamond from a piece of jewelery that is never worn and others who are divorced have the stone from their engagement ring reset into a pendant or other piece of jewellery. Whatever your reason may be, there are plenty of ways to reset a diamond stone.

Upgrade Your Band

The diamond from an engagement ring can be reset into a more expensive band, such as platinum, or one with more diamonds or detailing.

Reduce Yellow

Make a diamond that appears slightly yellow look whiter by removing it from its yellow gold band and having it set in a white gold band.

Hide or Prevent Damage

Camouflage a damaged stone and reduce the chances of it being further damaged by placing it in a lower setting or having it set with smaller diamonds surrounding it.

Make Something New

A ring with one middle diamond and two smaller side diamonds can be used to create a necklace pendent (from the middle diamond) and diamond stud earrings (from the side diamonds).

Make a Family Ring

A family ring consists of a birthstone for each member of a family. The birthstone for people born in April is diamond; thus, if you have a diamond you would like to reset and someone in your family was born in April, you can use the stone to make a family ring.
