You can spend a lot or a little on jewelry, but it's usually much cheaper to make your own jewelry. If you are giving a gift of jewelry to a growing child or even somebody losing weight, you might want to consider making it adjustable. This will give your jewelry flexibility to change along with the changes that come to a person. It's not very difficult, and it's the smartest kind of jewelry to have.

Instructions

    1

Use elastic string to make a bracelet that moves with you. Strong beads and jewels along the elastic string. Tie at the end and tuck the knot into the jewels. Now you have a bracelet that moves to fit a shrinking or expanding wrist at will.

    2

Make a snap bead necklace. This works by having beads that snap into one another as you go. You can allow a special little drawer in your jewelry box for excess beads. Whenever you feel like wearing a long necklace, simply add the beads. If you want a choker or even a medium-length necklace, you can do that with--quite literally--a snap.

    3

Place a pendant like a heart or a peace sign on a decorative bow, string or tie. You can tie it in the back to create the length that you want. This allows ultimate flexibility to make it whatever length works best with the outfit you are wearing in the moment.

    4

Place a brooch or beautiful stone over a cloth headband. This can be a very cool look because you can wear it as an adjustable choker. When you are done, you can wear it as a headband again, or buy two that match for a dual look.

    5

Add some pizazz to plain stub earrings. Place a gold trinket or hoop onto the earrings, and you will have adjustable earrings. You can still remove the trinket to have your stubs again, and you can add the special gold whenever you want a more dramatic look.
