How to Bend a 14K Gold Sheet to Make a Cuff Bracelet

A handmade bracelet can make a beautiful gift or add a conversation piece to any wardrobe. You do not have to be an expert jeweler or craftsman to make a bracelet out of 14K gold. In fact, making bracelets out of gold is a wonderful activity for parents with their children and is something your children can have for the rest of their lives to remind them of you.

Instructions

    1

Purchase a 14K gold sheet that is approximately 7 inches long and 1 inch wide at a hardware store or home store. If you cannot find a sheet of this length, you can ask someone at the store to cut it for you.

    2

File the ends of the gold sheet until they are smooth and not sharp to the touch. If desired, round the four corners of the metal sheet.

    3

Put on your gloves. Bend the sheet around the mandrel as much as possible with your hands. You can purchase a mandrel at a jewelry supply store, a crafts store or online.

    4

Use a jewelry hammer (or a regular hammer with a piece of fabric secured around the mallet with a rubber band) to hammer the bracelet in place around the mandrel.

    5

Take the bracelet off the mandrel. Your bracelet is now ready to wear and can be sized by gently bending the bracelet around the wrist.
