Body piercing jewelry is no different than traditional jewelry. You may wish to change it from time to time. While changing out a nose ring is a bit more complicated than swapping bracelets, you can easily learn how to do it. If you are wary about putting in a new nose stud, you can always go to a professional piercing shop to have it done. If you do, closely observe the process. You'll see that it's actually quite easy to put in a new nose stud.

Instructions

    1

Clean the hole with an appropriate solution. You can find piercing cleaning solutions at any piercing store as well as most cosmetic and drug stores. Make sure to clean both the interior and exterior portions of the hole.

    2

Wash the new nose stud. Since the stud will be residing in the hole, it should be free of bacteria and grime. Use the same cleaning solution to clean it. You can also use antibacterial soap to get rid of bacteria and germs on it.

    3

Put your thumb inside your nose. Hold it against the interior portion of the hole. Try to use the pad or flat portion of your thumb rather than its rounded tip.

    4

Apply light pressure with your thumb. This will help to widen the hole, making it easier to insert the new nose stud.

    5

Insert the nose stud into the exterior portion of the hole. Stand in front of a mirror to make this process easier. Remove your thumb from inside your nose once you feel the end of the stud hit it.

    6

Push the nose stud into place. Some studs are slightly curved to keep them inside your nose. Others feature backings to secure them in place. If your stud has a backing, affix it to the portion of the stud that is inside your nose.
