How to Make a Toe Anklet

Toe anklets are popular jewelry during warm summer months. They are most often worn with sandals or flip-flops. Toe jewelry originated in India, states LovetoKnow.com, where a toe ring is an indication that the wearer is married. For many, a toe anklet is more comfortable than a toe ring, especially if worn in the summer. Toe anklets are easy to create, and they make great gifts. The materials needed can be purchased at any craft or fabric store.

Instructions

Beaded Toe Anklet

    1

Measure the part of your toe where you are going to wear the toe anklet with the measuring tape.

    2

Cut a length of elastic thread that is 3 inches longer than your toe measurement. Tie a knot in the end of the elastic thread, and pull it through the needle. Use the needle and thread to string enough beads to match the toe measurement.

    3

Pull the needle off the thread, and tie a double knot with the ends of the thread so that the first and last bead you strung are side by side.

    4

Cut off the excess thread ends and discard them. Tuck the attached ends into the surrounding beads.

Raffia Toe Anklet

    5

Cut a 6-inch length of raffia.

    6

Wrap the raffia around your toe, beginning at the back of the toe. Wrap the toe again above the first wrap. Wrap the toe again above the second wrap. This will create a toe anklet that is three raffia widths.

    7

Slip a bead onto the end of the raffia, and tie a knot at the back of your toe.

    8

Cut off the excess ends of the raffia and discard it. Tuck the attached ends into the raffia toe anklet.

    9

Shift the bead so that it is on the topside of your toe.
