A lip ring is a type of piercing that many people opt for to give themselves a new, funky look. From time to time, you may want to swap out your lip ring for a ring of a different style or color. When you've never changed your lip ring before, getting it in correctly without causing yourself pain may take a few tries.
Instructions
- 1
Wash and dry your hands before changing your lip ring. Use antibacterial hand sanitizer as well, as an extra precaution to kill germs.
2Wash the hole of your piercing with hot water and an antimicrobial soap. Dry thoroughly.
3Clean your lip ring with the antimicrobial soap and water and dry it with a clean towel.
4Unfasten the ball that holds your lip ring together, and spread the ring apart by pulling one end away from you and the other toward you to create a wider opening.
5Thread the tip of the lip ring into your piercing from the outside, and gently turn it so that the opening faces upward. It may help to hold your lip taut with your other hand while guiding the lip ring into the hole.
6Press the lip ring back into position using both hands to align the ends with one another, and insert the ball onto the ring to complete the circle. Screw the ball on, or push the ends of the ring together to hold it in place, depending on the type of ring you have.
