Viva Beads are jewelry pieces made up of beads of smooth polymer clay--a man-made material consisting of a plasticizer, PVC, pigments and other ingredients. The term "clay" is a misnomer in the literal sense as the clay is synthetic, but pliable polymer clay acts in the same way as earthen clay allowing the product's maker, Viva Enterprises, to layer, mold and bake the material into a wide variety of designs and shapes.

Unlike earthen clay, the beads don't absorb water. As a result, cleaning Viva Beads jewelry requires little effort unless you spill food or some other type of clinging debris on the beads or jewelry findings.

Instructions

    1

Wipe your Viva Beads jewelry gently with a dry lint-free, soft microfiber textured cloth--for general maintenance and/or light cleaning--to remove debris such as dust or skin flakes. Although polymer clay typically withstands staining, Viva Beads jewelry may need additional cleaning to remove debris such as dirt, perfume/cologne or skin oils, make-up or food clinging to the polymer beads or any other surfaces of the jewelry. Go to Step 2, to rinse away dirt or Step 3 to clean your Viva Beads jewelry more thoroughly.

    2

Rinse your Viva Beads with a microfiber cloth and hot water. Dry completely with another microfiber cloth.

    3

Place one or more drops of laundry detergent on a small-bristled brush or toothbrush, depending on the size of the area (one bead or the entire jewelry piece) that you're cleaning, and gently scrub your Viva Beads, other beads and/or jewelry findings to remove any clinging debris. Add additional drops as necessary. Once finished, rinse to remove the detergent residue and wipe with a clean, dry microfiber cloth.
