Fossil is a brand of watches. The watch style typically contains a metal band that is created with a series of links known as smart links. The friction pins that hold the wristband together are located in the middle of each link and removable from either side of the band. Removing the appropriate number of links is important for a proper fit. A loose band could result in the watch becoming lost as it could slip off your wrist. Adjusting the band can be done in a few steps.

Instructions

    1

Place the watch on your wrist.

    2

Pinch the wristband to make it snugly fit your wrist. Count how many loose links remain. These are the ones that can be removed.

    3

Lay the pin press on a flat, sturdy surface.

    4

Loosen the screws on the pin press.

    5

Insert the vice pin into the pin press and retighten the screws of the pin press.

    6

Insert the vice pin into a link pin hole. Do this on one of the links that you would like to remove.

    7

Turn the vice pin while pressing the link pin out of the side of the link.

    8

Pull the pin from the wristband link. Use needle-nose pliers to do this once there is enough of the link exposed for gripping with the pliers.

    9

Remove the link. Repeat Steps 6-8 for each link that you would like to remove from the wristband.

    10

Bring the ends of the wristband together and align the pin holes of the end links.

    11

Insert a pin into the aligned holes of the end links. Press it all the way in the links until there is no exposed portion on either side of the link. This will connect the wristband to make a full circle once again.

    12

Lay the wristband on the pin press to complete pushing the pin securely into the links.
