Silver conchos are medallions that are usually seen decorating western style jewelry, belts or saddles. Since conchos are made of real silver they will get tarnished, but can be easily shined up and restored to their former beauty. Conchos come in many styles and types and they are found everywhere throughout the South.
Instructions
- 1
Clean concho jewelry gently with a damp, lint-free cloth. Chemicals shouldn't be used on concho jewelry because it is delicate. Regular cleaning with the cloth and water keep the concho looking its best.
2Shine up saddle conchos with some toothpaste and a toothbrush. Use plain, white toothpaste and the toothbrush to rub the conchos clean. Wipe the toothpaste away with the lint-free cloth, dampened with water if needed.
3Rub conchos with a jewelry polishing cloth to add some extra shine. Buff the conchos until they are sparkling using a lint-free cloth.
4Clean your conchos with a little baking soda and water for a natural way to beautify your conchos. Make a paste with a little water mixed in with baking soda until it's a glue-like consistency. Rub the conchos gently with the paste and buff dry with the lint-free cloth.
5Try silver cleaner if none of the above methods work. Follow the directions and use it as little as possible -- and only if needed. Sometimes these cleaners contain harsh chemicals.
