How to Resize Pave Rings

When these rings fit too loosely or tightly, the process of resizing a pave setting ring can be almost as difficult as the ring is stunning. Insert a rubber ring spacer or metal ring guard if your ring fits too loosely. Either product can be purchased at most jewelers or online. Enfold the ring spacer or ring guard onto ring shank to put into place.

Speak to a jeweler about your loose or tight-fitting ring. Upon examination, a jeweler will suggest some possible resizing methods. A double shank cut could be successful, changing the ring shape into an oval, and allowing for a greater ring size. Using a single shank cut with round nose pliers could allow for a smaller ring size, bending only the part of the ring that needs resizing, leaving the pave stones intact. However, some jewelers will refuse to resize a pave setting ring, as loose or missing stones are laborious and costly to repair.

Contact the store you originally purchased the ring from about resizing options. Take your pave ring receipt with you, and discuss resizing options with the ring's manufacturer.
