How Can I Keep an Original Nose Piercing In?

Whether taking out your nose piercing is required by an employer or necessary for another reason, keeping the original piercing intact can be done. There are a few different methods for keeping a nose piercing site open, ranging from purchasing a new piece to getting crafty with some fishing line. You should wait to implement any of these techniques until the piercing has fully healed; otherwise, scarring or other sores may appear around the piercing site.

Instructions

    1

Replace the metal piece with a clear, plastic piece. Plastic pieces can typically be purchased at the same location where you obtained the piercing; to be sure, call the location to determine whether any clear nose pieces are in stock.

    2

Place a piercing that is similar in color to your skin tone in the original piercing position. The piece can blend into the skin, disguising the piercing from an employer.

    3

Cut a small piece of clear fishing line to fill the piercing. According to Nosepiercings.com, you can "burn one end of it, then push down or mush that edge into a flat disk. This will give it a placeholder so to speak and will allow you to insert this as your retainer." The site warns to make sure you clean the piece well after burning to prevent infection.
