Puzzle rings are beautiful and interesting pieces of jewelry, and can provide relaxation--and consternation! Easy to take apart and much harder to return to a whole ring, it doesn't take much to want to throw the ring into a drawer and never deal with it again. Instead of discarding it, check out this step-by-step guide to reassembling your ring.

Instructions

    1

Find the outermost bands. In a four-band ring, these are the outer two. You can identify them by the rounded edges.

    2

Hold the outside bands between two fingers and let the inside bands fall and line them up so they hang by the knot parts. Be sure not to bend the bands, as that will prevent the ring from ever fitting together properly.

    3

Hold the inside bands in your other hand and grasp the right hand inner band, twisting it counter-clockwise so that the knot part comes back into the other inside band. According to Puzzlering.com, at this point "the inside bands will seat nicely together with the hanging outside bands trapped in the knot if you have done this move correctly."

    4

Grab and rotate one of the hanging outside bands so that the knotted piece comes into alignment with the other bands between your fingers.

    5

"Gently bring the outside band up to meet the inside bands. You might have to work the knotted part around so that it rotates smoothly over the other bands," says Puzzlering.com. And remember, if something goes wrong you can always start over.

    6

Rotate the last outside band to fit into the bands gripped between your fingers, and repeat step 5.
