Necklaces are suited for both men and women, and can be the perfect accent to any outfit. Eventually, any necklace is bound to succumb to wear and tear, but it can be easily revived with the proper jewelry cleaner. Within 5 to 10 minutes, you can clean years of build-up from your chain with little effort. There is no need to bring your necklace to a jeweler when you can purchase your own home cleaner for a few dollars.

Instructions

Cleaning Your Chain

    1

Purchase a jar of jewelry cleaner at your local jewelry counter or wherever cleaners are sold. They typically sell for no more than $20.00. When shopping for a cleaner, read the labels. Cleaners are made for all types of jewelry--pearls, gold, silver. The cleaner you buy should be based on the type of chain you have and if it has any gem stones.

    2

Have a napkin or dry cloth nearby prior to starting the cleaning. This will be used to dry the chain once you are finished.

    3

Open the jar of cleaner. You will see a sieve/strainer inside where you can place your chain and dip into the liquid without having to immerse your hand. Some cleaners also provide you with a small brush to scrub off any dirt and grime from your chain.

    4

Submerge your chain in the cleaning liquid once it has been placed safely on the strainer. Most pieces of jewelry require no more than 5 minutes in the cleaner to get the job done, but read the label on the jar for the proper instructions.

    5

Run your chain under warm water for 30 seconds after removing it from the cleaner to wash away any excess.

    6

Place the necklace on the napkin or dry cloth, and gently dab it to soak away the moisture. Allow it to fully dry before wearing.
