How to End a Lariat Necklace

Making your own jewelry at home can be an easy process and is easily customizable. You can add special touches to the jewelry piece that can make it a precious, yet personalized gift for a friend or family member. A lariat necklace is made out of beads, typically without a clasp. To clasp the ends together, a loop is made that can hold larger beads in place and prevent the necklace from falling off.

Instructions

    1

Make a lariat loop that will hold the necklace around your neck. Thread the jewelry wire through the beads you are using for the design. Loop it around and thread through the crimp bead to hold it in place. Crimp beads are small metal beads that, when pressure is applied, are squeezed tightly shut to hold the jewelry wire in place.

    2

Crimp the crimp bead using special crimping pliers.

    3

String roughly 5 inches of larger beads towards the other end of the lariat necklace so they will fit snugly within the holding loop. The loop takes the place of a clasp that you would normally find at the end of necklaces and will hold the larger beads on the other end of the necklace in place.

    4

String a crimp bead and one very large bead on the remaining end of the necklace. Thread the wire in a loop through the large bead and crimp bead as well as a few additional beads already placed on the string for security.

    5

Crimp the crimp bead using crimping pliers.

    6

Finish by using wire cutters to detach any excess wire and add crimp covers if necessary to hold beads in place.
