How to Clean White Gold Rings

White gold jewelry is beautiful when it is brilliantly clean, especially when it is new. White gold rings are particularly susceptible to shine-diminishing elements such as body oils, skin lotions, hand soap and dishwashing detergents. Not everyone removes their rings when showering, housecleaning or gardening, and the rings begin to lose their luster. But that luster is not really lost---just covered up. Here is an efficient way to clean your white gold rings every month.

Instructions

    1

Lay out a towel on a table and place the 2 small bowls of warm water on top. Stir 1 tsp. of baking soda into one bowl of water and set the ring(s) into the bowl. Let them soak in the baking soda water for 15 to 30 minutes.

    2

Put a tiny amount of gentle toothpaste on a child's toothbrush. Take the ring out of the water and carefully rub the toothbrush around all the little crevices and curves of the ring. If needed, take a cotton ear swab to get under the prongs or grooves. After cleaning the ring, place it into the bowl of clean warm water and swoosh it around until thoroughly rinsed off.

    3

After rinsing off the ring in the clean water, take it out and set on the washcloth. Pat it dry.

    4

Use the jewelry polishing cloth to buff the ring to a brilliant shine. If any traces of baking soda or toothpaste remain, just use one of the cotton swabs to remove it and continue to polish.
