How do I Layer Jewelry?

Layering jewelry can be fashionable and stylish. With a few simple guidelines, piling on jewelry can make you look chic and elegant, without going over the top. Whether you prefer to mix delicate, beaded strands or chunky accessories, the look can be truly eye-catching if you do it right.

Piling Up Bracelets

Take your cue from color. When layering bracelets, for example, if the most dominant piece is a bold, red cuff, add on bangles, links and/or beaded bands that contain the same color or are in the same color scheme. Piling up bracelets this way makes the similar colors pop and unifies the whole thing for a totally chic, contemporary look.

Necklace Layering

Forget the old rules of fashion. Experiment with your necklaces and put together chunky beads, silver and gold chains, leather strings, lace and ribbon strands. Don't be afraid to mix and match different styles for an interesting, modern look.

Metal Mix

Mix your metallic accessories to achieve a look that's absolutely mod. Gold, silver or copper in polished or matte finish can work together beautifully. According to Redbook, "Use clean, graphic shapes to pull the look together."
