How to Assemble Beaded Bracelets at Home

Making beaded bracelets is an easy, fun craft idea that can be done at home using materials found at a crafts store. Glass, plastic or metal beads can be used. With the addition of a friend's initials on letter beads, the jewelry can become a friendship bracelet. Add other embellishments, and you can have an accessory for your holiday outfit. Making beaded bracelets is also a simple, yet creative activity for a children's party.

Instructions

    1

Lay out your desired bead pattern so you know how to place them on the cord. Tape one end of the elastic cord to a flat, stable surface such as a table, leaving about one inch of cord on the other side of the tape. String the beads onto the cord according to your planned pattern.

    2

Continue to measure the bracelet as you go, adding any charms at equally-spaced intervals. Add any name or word beads in the middle of the bracelet, making sure that the beads face the right direction. String the rest of the beads until the beaded strand is slightly larger than your wrist.

    3

Hold onto the untaped end of cord when finished beading and cut it with scissors, leaving about an inch extra to be tied. Keep holding that end while removing the tape from the other hand. Hold that end, as well, to prevent beads from falling. Tie the two ends of cord together in a double-knot. Place a drop of glue on the knot to secure it.
