Egyptian puzzle rings are made up of several individual bands that are intertwined. When the ring's bands are correctly put together, the ring can be worn just like a regular ring. When the ring is taken off, however, the bands will not hold the ring shape. They will separate and must be put back together in order to be worn. There are several different styles of puzzle rings and although each one is worked in a slightly different way, the basics are the same.
Instructions
- 1
Locate the two arched bands and hold the rings together. When held together, these two bands will create a rough oval or diamond shape. The bands of Egyptian puzzle rings are often numbered. If the bands of your ring are numbered, these two arched pieces will likely be numbered as 1 and 2. Let these bands fall to one side.
2Hold the flat parts of the other two bands in a four-band ring. Place the two bands next to each other and twist one band 180 degrees. The two bands will lock together and form a crisscross at the top.
3Bring the arched pieces back up and fit them against either side of the flat bands to complete the ring.
4Begin a ring with an odd number of bands by first finding the single smooth band. When you find the smooth band, let it fall to the side with the two arched bands just as you would with an even-numbered ring.
5Pull up the two remaining bands by the flat parts of each band as described with the even-numbered ring, but before you twist the bands together, pull the smooth band up between them. When you twist the bands, the smooth band should stay locked in place. Bring the arched pieces up on either side to complete the ring.
