Bracelets Made With Shells

Seashells can be made into versatile pieces of jewelry that can be worn on almost any occasion. Depending on the type of shells used, they can be dressed up or dressed down. And because there are countless varieties of seashells, some which are more easily found than others, you can find pieces that match your personal sense of style and your budget.

High-End

Depending on the type of shells used, bracelets made with seashells can cost several hundred dollars. Specifically, bracelets made with abalone shell, which is iridescent and used in most mother-of-pearl products, are quite expensive. A couple of examples of high-end shell bracelets seen online are an abalone-shell bracelet from Etsy and a cultured-pearl, coral and shell bracelet from Ross-Simons, which as of July 2010 was selling for more than $300.

Inexpensive

Inexpensive shell bracelets are fairly easy to find, because most shells are extremely common and are easily obtained. They can usually be found in beach stores for a relatively low price. Inexpensive ($5 and under) shell bracelets available online include a puka-shell bracelet from Tia's and a mussel-shell bracelet at The Country Porch.

DIY

Because most shells are inexpensive and easy to find, making your own shell bracelet is also a low-cost option. Most craft stores, such as Jo-Ann Fabrics & Crafts, Michael's and A.C. Moore, sell seashells by the bag. You can find shells with holes already in them, or you can drill your own holes with the proper tools. String the shells onto a piece of twine, and you'll be showing off your one-of-a-kind design.
