How to Make an Earring Organizer and Display at Home

If you have many earrings collecting dust at the bottom of your jewelry box or, even worse, just knotted together in a drawer, you can organize and display them on a simple homemade stand. The basic design is simple, and you can add decorations to suit your style and taste.

Instructions

    1

Fold the cardboard in half, making a straight, clean crease at the top.

    2

Set the cardboard on a flat surface. If it stands upright on its own, you have folded it evenly in half. If not, fold one of the bottom edges inward to steady it -- 1 or 2 inches should suffice -- to make a tall, thin triangle. Set it down again with the new fold on the flat surface and make sure it's steady and even.

    3

Pull a piece of felt tightly around the front (the side on which you'll be displaying your earrings) of the cardboard. Remove the felt and apply a thin layer of glue to the front of the display. Press the felt back on to the surface and trim off any extra material on the edges. Allow the glue to dry.

    4

Add color, glitter or other decorations as you see fit. Allow them to dry completely before proceeding.

    5

Poke pairs of holes about one-half inch apart through the felt and the cardboard using the post of a straight earring. Position the pairs of holes to display pairs of earrings; how many and how far apart you make the pairs of holes should depend on how many pairs of earrings you want to display.

    6

Place your pairs earrings into the holes; once you put an earring through, flip the cardboard over and put the earring's back in place (if it has one) to lock it onto the cardboard.
