How to Polish a Star Sapphire

The Star stone was used by our forefathers to ward off evil and invite divine spirits from the gods. It was also used to test whether a woman was faithful or not. If the blue shade changed after wearing the stone for three hours under daylight at a certain time of day, then the woman was deemed immoral and unfaithful. Of all the star stones, the Sapphire is the most common of all. The Star Sapphire is named so because of the way it is cut and laid. There should be a star seen in the stone which moves when you shift the gem away from the light.

Instructions

    1

Place the sapphire on top of a cleaning cloth and scrub gently with the jewelry cleaner and soft brush. You want to especially target crevices since dirt can easily get lodged in these areas. You should also pay particular attention to the part of the jewelry that touches your skin. Since your skin has a chemical make-up with acid, it can be transferred to the jewelry and ruin the setting or finish.

    2

Fill a small bowl with lukewarm water and dip your sapphire into the bowl. Leave it there for three to five minutes.

    3

Towel-dry your sapphire to make sure no moisture is retained before storing it.

    4

Wash your soft brush and cleaning cloth well so that it will be ready for the next use. Leaving dirt or oil could affect the softness of the bristles, which could be abrasive for your sapphire.
