Creating jewelry out of gemstones or other stones is simple with the correct supplies, such as wire wraps, necklace chains and pliers. The best jewelry to create with these are necklaces or bracelets. They can be made with a little patience, creativity and craft supplies. Use stones such as pieces of sea glass, seashells, rocks or gemstones found at craft stores.

Instructions

    1

Lay out a length of the wire wrapping on a flat sturdy surface. Pick up one of the stones or pieces of sea glass that you are going to wrap and find the curviest corner or side of it. Take one end of the wire wrapping and begin to ravel the wire around the edge so it will set and anchor itself in place.

    2

Use the pliers and your hands to proceed to wrap the wire around the stone or gem in a clockwise direction. You want to wrap it from one side or the other so it has an organized, professional appearance as much as possible. Once you are finished wrapping, set aside.

    3

Take the wire hoop connectors for jewelry that resemble small metal circles with a cut on one side so you can open it. Use the pliers to open the small circle. You can find these at any craft or jewelry-making supply store.

    4

Insert the opening around an area of the wrapping wire that is already around the stone or gem. The best place to do this is the upper part of the jewelry, where you would want the top of the necklace to be. Hook it onto the wire wrapping and than close it shut with the pliers by squeezing the ends together.

    5

Take the necklace chain and loop it through the hoop connector. This will create your necklace with a wrapped set gemstone or stone. Create as many as you desire with different colors of wire wrapping, and different styles such as spiral wrapping, or wrapping just one side of the stone.
